Sitka Walking Map
Every downtown sight, restaurant and shop we can place on the map, with walking times from the shuttle stop.
Choose where you came ashore, the shuttle stop at Harrigan Centennial Hall or the Crescent Harbor tender landing, and tap any numbered pin to see the walk drawn from there. One finger or a left-drag moves the map; two fingers or a right-drag tilts and spins it, and the 2D button lays it flat. Walking times assume an unhurried pace. From the cruise terminal on Halibut Point Road, ride the free shuttle into town first (book a seat at reservation.sitkadock.com). Fortress of the Bear and Old Sitka need a car or tour, and the Raptor Center, about 20 minutes on foot east of downtown, has no map point yet. Heights of buildings are estimates. Terrain comes from the USGS 3D Elevation Program; streets, buildings and the waterfront © OpenStreetMap contributors, via Overture Maps.
Big ships dock 5 to 6 miles north of downtown Sitka, so the walking starts where the free shuttle stops, at Harrigan Centennial Hall on Harbor Drive; tender passengers land at Crescent Harbor right beside it. Lincoln Street is the spine of town. Head west and you reach St. Michael’s Cathedral in about three minutes, then Castle Hill, Totem Square and the Katlian Street waterfront with the Tribal Community House and the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall. Head east for the Russian Bishop’s House, the Sheldon Jackson Museum and, at the end of the street, the totem trail in Sitka National Historical Park. Castle Hill has stairs from Lincoln Street and a paved ramp from Harbor Way. Each place below shows its walking time from the shuttle stop; tap Show on map to have the 3D map draw the route.
